Individual Health, Dental Insurance
Individual health insurance is also known as personal, or family, health insurance. It supplements your provincial health care coverage, and may or may not provide extended dental care.
Individual health insurance is for single people, families and couples.
Note: if you are covered under an employee benefit plan from work then you probably do not need to purchase personal health insurance. However, it is possible to increase your group insurance coverage by buying personal health insurance, disability insurance, critical illness, life insurance, etc.
Group Health Insurance (Employee Benefits)
Group insurance, often referred to as employee benefits, is purchased by companies, which then offer their employees these benefits.
The type of coverage varies, depending on the insurance carrier and plan type. Typcially group insurance has extended health benefits, some life insurance, possibly long term disability and extended dental benefits.
Note: if you are covered under an employee benefit plan you have the option of augmenting your coverage by buying personal health insurance, disability insurance, critical illness, life insurance, etc.
